Introduction to the Business Planning Position [Watch the video here] https://youtu.be/mcV8VwdFRXM Examples of Business Planning Responsibilities [Corporate Planning] 1) Overseas Corporate Planning - Identifying, planning, and promoting new housing and real estate development businesses abroad - Supporting group companies, facilitating new investments, performance management, budget planning, and report preparation - Promoting environmentally conscious buildings and medium-to-large-scale wooden construction projects in North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia 2) Domestic Corporate Planning - Overall management operations, including performance management, legal affairs, accounting, HR, and general administration - Market research, information gathering, and marketing strategy development - Planning and promoting business alliances, capital partnerships, and M&A initiatives [Trading Business] 1) Trading of Timber and Building Materials - Sales of housing and construction materials to wholesalers, pre-cut factories, builders, general contractors, etc. - Sales of industrial materials to building material manufacturers, plywood manufacturers, factories, power plants, etc. (Sales activities include client visits, product proposals, quality control, and delivery management) - Managing import/export operations for logs, lumber, plywood, fiberboard, and related products 2) Planning and Promotion of New Businesses - Planning and promoting new service strategies, including DX tools and decarbonization-related products - Developing marketing strategies for furniture and woodworking product businesses - Proposing new logistics systems and providing design support for timber-based construction of stores and offices

Compensation and Benefits

▪️Work-Life Balance Programs ・Flextime System Employees can freely choose their start and end times within the total monthly working hours. (Standard daily working hours: 7 hours 15 minutes; Core time: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM) Additionally, a work interval system between shifts has been introduced. ・Telework System Using company-provided devices, employees can work from home, satellite offices, or while on the go. Generally limited to up to 2 days per week. ・Holidays and Leave Complete five-day workweek system (days off may vary by job type and department). Approximately 120 annual holidays, paid leave, special leave (such as condolence leave and volunteer leave), refresh leave system, and family-friendly days are available. ・Transfer Considerations Employees can request transfers involving relocation due to marriage, spouse’s job transfer, or balancing work with childcare or nursing care. ・Childcare Nursing and Event Leave Employees may take up to 10 days per year (in 30-minute increments) of paid leave when their child up to 6th grade is sick or injured. Acquire business writing skills, logical writing skills, legal knowledge, and support for obtaining the Level 3 Japan Chamber of Commerce Bookkeeping Certification. ・Second Year Deepen business understanding, share experiences and current status, and create action plans for autonomous growth. Support for obtaining the Level 2 Japan Chamber of Commerce Bookkeeping Certification. ・Third Year Shikoku Forest Training (2 days) …Visit Besshi Copper Mine, the birthplace of Sumitomo Forestry, to learn firsthand about its history and management philosophy. Inventory and share experiences, and design career plans. ・Other Training Programs Sumirin Business College (organized by HR Department) Voluntary participation training programs including hierarchical, selective, and self-development courses. Examples: Logical thinking training, management training, marketing training with external instructors, overseas talent development programs, next-generation leader training, etc. ・e-Learning Covers common Sumitomo Forestry topics (history, compliance, etc.), business skills, management skills, knowledge related to finance and legal affairs, and business-specific operational knowledge.

■ Internal Recruitment System This system allows specific departments to publicly recruit personnel from other departments. It prioritizes employees’ interest, knowledge, and experience related to the role, aiming to achieve optimal placement by allowing interested employees to take on the position rather than having the company assign staff. ■ FA (Free Agent) System Employees can apply to change their desired job duties or affiliated department/office based on their own preferences. For employees meeting certain conditions, this system supports career development and enhances job satisfaction and organizational vitality by accommodating requests for job or placement changes. ■ Education and Certification Support Programs ・Graduate School Support Program Supports employees who enroll in graduate schools that allow continued employment at their current workplace.
